The Best Reason To Get Organized (read 60 times) ... or go back

What?

You are more likely to get things done in your life if you have good reasons for doing them. Your reason for doing something should make you feel good. As it turns out, the fact that it makes you feel good is one of the best reasons to get organized.

So What?

Many people have forgotten how good it feels to be organized (or never knew in the first place). The closest they ever get to this wonderful feeling is the day before they go on vacation. That’s the time when they finally buckle down and get their “act” together. Who likes to go on vacation with a lot of unfinished things hanging over their head? The day before vacation is when they finally get focused, get all the important things done, or at least under control, and end the day feeling great (remember I said most people, not all people)! Wouldn’t it be nice to feel this way most days?

Now What?

When you start to feel overwhelmed and things seem to be getting out of control, imagine you are going on vacation the next day. Get focused on the important issues…the 20 percent that matters. Forget the unimportant…the 80 percent that does not matter. Look forward to the feeling you will have at the end of the day. Don’t forget to enjoy the feeling you have during the day, when you know you are focused on important things, instead of getting caught in the busywork trap.

“There is no shortage of time. In fact, we are positively awash with it. We only make good use of 20 percent of our time.” — Richard Koch, The 80/20 Principle
