Mere days after the announcement of comedian Janeane Garofalo as a new addition to the cast of 24’s upcoming seventh season, two more actors have been confirmed to join the show.
With 24 moving in a markedly different direction from its previous six seasons, it’s no wonder that producers are hauling in fresh faces and unfamiliar characters. Now that the 24 scene has shifted from California to Washington, along with the conspicuous absence of the staple CTU or Counter Terrorist Unit and the installment of yet another different president, there certainly is greater room to bring in new personnel.
Aside from Garofalo, who we know will play FBI systems analyst, Janis Gold, the series has also signed Colm Feore and Rhys Coiro.
Coiro will portray Garofalo’s FBI colleague, tasked to investigate anything and everything surrounding Kiefer Sutherland’s character, Jack Bauer. Before landing his role on 24, Rhys Coiro was best known as Billy Walsh, the unstable filmmaker on the HBO series, Entourage.
Another recent HBO stalwart, Colm Feore, will essay the part of 24’s inaugural First Husband. As the spouse of the new president, his character will be devoted to looking after the presidential kids and keeping them away from mishap and mischief. Feore is a veteran of numerous film and television projects. Among his latest appearances was as General Sherman on Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee for HBO. His film credits include Face/Off, City of Angels, Pearl Harbor, The Sum of All Fears and Chicago.
One of the remaining key elements still to be cast for 24’s seventh installment is the staple villain/antagonist, responsible for filling Jack Bauer’s day with countless arduous tasks and impossible situations. It shouldn’t be long now before we get wind of this all-important casting piece of news, provided the show doesn’t hit any more production snags and delays.
